January results: a good start in the new year

The month started really bad with some "-10stack days" because i played really bad, but i managed to get back rather fast and ended the month with a little bit above 3k in winnings.

Because of the "January Jumpstart VPP" promotion i got 625 vpp for free since i started with goldstar in the month. This resulted into a lower motivation to start grinding for supernova and i only played 57 hours; something i have to focus on more.

2013 Review

Hi guys,

i would prefer to bring the review earlier but i had to find a day were i m in the mood for a rather long post and not be hangover.

-2013 goals:

[ X ] Moving to Thailand and find a place to live and work
[    ] Play good poker
[ X ] Take shots at higher limits and move up
[    ] Clear Supernova

 I m really happy that i found a nice house and am able to work without bigger problems. I saw a few people, esp from America after black Friday, who moved to Canada or other countries and just fucked up their mindset or whatever; moved down a few limits and basically never found back to their old game. This was my biggest fear i faced before leaving Germany where i lived my whole life up to this point.

On the other hand, my results at the tables are really bad compared to the years before. I made overall about half the money i made in 2012 but also had more free time i spent very well. Back in Germany i got a lot of time to play poker because there was not a lot to do for a guy who got his hobby as job. The really hot weather in Thailand combined with a failing aircondition plus a crappy internet made me tilt a lot and resulted into some timeouts and a lower winrate.




Supernova...

Well, i fucked up. I only play poker when i m in the mood and really feel like playing A-game. I took some weeks and even a few months off and was not able to make 100k vpp at the end of the year. In my eyes its not a big loss since only about 18% of my overall-income comes from rakeback; but still, working as a pokerplayer as only job on 50nl+ and not clearing supernova is more than weak.

Overall i got mixed feelings about 2013. On the one side life is good and i m enjoying every day of it, on the other side my results are really crappy. My plan for the next months will be to put more effort into my work and to improve my game (like every goal in every other year-review i guess) :)

Hi guys,

this month started really well and i was running a few stacks above ev for the first two weeks. Sadly i was playing a lot of breakeven for the rest of the month, but i m still ok with the money i made. I will spend the next few days with analyzing what happend in the last 15 days.

Also the cold-season started a few weeks ago, its raining less and the average temperature went down to 27 °C on the day. This month i started to work at night and sleep on the day. The pros are obv the softer tables and more people online, the contra is that i dont get any sun; a few days ago i saw the sun for like the first time in three weeks and almost went blind :). It really feels like living in a deep hole when u wake up at 6pm and go to bed at 7am.

The goal for the last 75 days in 2013 to make 10.000$ in winnings at the tables might be a bit of a callenge since i will spend one week at christmas in germany with my family and will not be able to play poker there. The fact that i have to make 5.000$ in December can be a small problem, but i still hope that the christmas-money from the fish will make the tables redonkulous soft.

the first half of the month is done and i really enjoyed playing the upswing. Running good, getting setups in my favour and seeing other regs bluffing in my nuts on the deep tables is really the best thing that can happen in poker.

On the other hand i have to admit that i quit two days early and wasn´t working on one day because there was a storm and the electricity went off for some time. So i m a little bit disappointed that i only played 23k hands.

 As far as this month is going i wont be surprised if i could cash big in one of these "week-mission"-freerolls. If i cash 25k i will make a 10k freeroll :)

Internet in Thailand

Hi guys,

if you want to move to another country and have a job that requires internet, try to get as much information about the provider in your new location. I tested the internet in my hotel before i moved to Pattaya and everything was normal, but when i got the house and bought the pc - the internet was really disappointing.

That's the log from two weeks ago, when i tracked 6 hours and got 70 disconnects. Some lasted for over a minute what made me fold all my hands on ps and starts tilting me.

You cant really expect any help from the company itself because they have no qualified people in the supportcenter and even the technicians cant fix the problem after they were at my house four times. After almost 9 month i changed the provider and took the best possible internetconnection there is and suddenly all the problems are gone. I m really happy :)



Here is a Picture of two monkeys hiding in a tree on Ko Lan, a beautiful island close to Pattaya. I really would like to touch them or feed them some bananas, but people told me they are really violent and like to bite. Still fun to see wild monkeys when u go to the beach.

Results of October: finding back to my game

Looks like i finally found back to my game. I think the biggest step was to play at the european primetime at 8 pm CET instead of 8am CET. Therefor i dont have to mix 50nl and 25nl since there are so many good tables to play at. Also there are no fishregs joining my new tables over and over again and try to play hu because they need the vpp even if they play a reg hu for -5bb/100; not sure if they realise that.

Playing only 47k hands this month is not really bad because a friend of mine came to Pattaya for two month and i was going out about two times a week. Waking up the day after a party when the sun is already gone makes it really hard for me to work on that day :)

Results of September: no easy money :)

Hi guys!

I started playing at the middle of September and was not able to make a decent amount of money. I think the main reasons for the bad results are the still crappy internet here in my house; even after getting a new line and getting this new line fixed its still really bad and i have disconnects almost every day while i play. Hello tilt :). On the other hand it felt like i was flopping too many middlepairs in 3/4bet pots with QQ/KK, and big slick made a lot of A-highs and was not able to improve. On top of that i ran a few hundred bucks under ev.


At the end of September i lost my Supernova status and went back to Goldstar after making three month less than 6,5k vpp this year. For me its not a big deal since rakeback was only about 15% of my income last year and after making 50k vpp so far, reaching Supernova was not possible this year.



My main-focus right now is to get back to my normal game and stop being lazy :). The last few month i didn´t even update this blog on the beginning/middle of the month; for a german thats not ok :)
